20 recipes for comfort food and indoor activities on a snow day!
I woke up to a thick blanket of snow this morning and it is still coming down. In the south where I live, this only happens a few times a year and is a beautiful, welcome sight!
My kids are still asleep in their beds, but I already know what they day will hold. There will be a fire in the fireplace, just like most winter days. We will spend at least thirty minutes helping four of our children into snow-appropriate gear– layering pants and socks, pulling on snow boots and tucking in pant legs, finding mittens and doing our best to keep sleeves tucked in and hands warm, and of course, topping everything off with hats to keep them warm.
Ideally, after all this dressing, they will stay outside and play for a long time. Thankfully my kids are getting to the age where they are better about this. That or I just inform them that they are not allowed back inside yet.
They won’t stay outside all day, though. And it’s helpful to be prepared with good food to eat, special treats to enjoy, and fun activities to keep everyone entertained.
So here are 20 ideas for food and fun on a snow day! (Or any day you feel cooped up and in need of comfort food and a good pastime).
