Granola is one of those things that looks so yummy in packages in the store, but something I very rarely buy because I know just how easy it is to make at home.
Now, I don’t always make the time to make it (about 45 minutes start to finish, most of that baking time). Even so, I can’t bring myself to spend a lot of money on food that is basically just components we already have at home.
One of the things I love about homemade granola, besides how tasty it is, is that it is super versatile. You can sub nuts and seeds based on what you have on hand, as long as you keep the wet/dry ingredients ratio about the same.
Easy Homemade Granola
Our favorite way to enjoy homemade granola is on top of our Instant Pot Greek yogurt. The addition of the granola adds another dimension to the yogurt parfaits and makes them seem like a more complete breakfast meal.
This granola is also great for snacking, adding to ice cream, or even just topping with milk as a simple cereal!
(If you like granola or cereal, you have to try this chocolate granola too!)

Description
Homemade granola is so easy to make and is so tasty on your breakfast yogurt or for snacking during the day!
Ingredients
- 5 cups old-fashioned oats
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds
- 1/2 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans
- 3 tbsp sesame seeds
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
- 1/2 cup melted coconut oil
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tsp almond extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.
- Stir together all the dry ingredients (oats, nuts, seeds, coconut) in a large bowl. Combine the honey, melted oil, and extract in a liquid measuring cup. Pour the wet ingredients in the bowl of dry ingredients and stir. Keep stirring until all the dry ingredients are coated and wet looking.
- Use parchment paper or a silicon baking mat to line a baking sheet. Spread the granola across the baking sheet. Try to get the granola in as flat a layer as possible.
- Bake the granola for 25 minutes, stirring once halfway.
- Let the granola cool before stirring (it will continue to clump together as it cools). After it is cool, you can break it up with a wooden spoon and eat it right away or transfer it to an airtight container for storing.

We’ve been making granola for years and I always enjoy trying a new recipe. I love granola but the usual one I get has so many raisins and nuts, I like that you can control how much you put in of each type if you make your own. Love the tropical taste also, this looks delicious. I love all their Grains.

Awesome recipe! This is easy to make and absolutely delicious!! I found your recipe by googling homemade granola and chose it because it also said easy. I made some substitutes: gluten free oats because I didn’t have sesame seeds. And finally, it turned out perfect. Thank you for sharing this with us, Lisa!
