My mom made a similar version of this peach cobbler when I was growing up. Whenever she made it, the whole house would fill with the most amazing aroma. I knew immediately that a delicious dessert was in my near future.
Now, my oldest daughter shares my love for peaches. I mean, the whole family is a fan of peaches– it’s hard not to enjoy a fresh summer peach. But my nine-year-old especially loves them. Peach cobbler was her request for her birthday dessert.
In keeping with the nostalgic dessert from my childhood, this recipe uses boxed cake mix, butter, and canned peaches. It’s so quick and easy to make, and a great spontaneous dessert since the ingredients are very easy to have on hand.
We try to enjoy fresh peaches as much as possible during the summer, but we also like to put up as many peaches as we can so we can enjoy them the rest of the year too. I have a reel on my Instagram page that shows how to can fresh peaches in a light syrup if you’re interested. You can find the full recipe here.
For the past few summers, I have ordered about 50lbs of peaches from The Peach Truck. Their peaches are so delicious and a great quality. Last summer I shared a large list of ideas and recipes for enjoying fresh peaches in the summer and the rest of the year.
Easy Peach Cobbler
This recipe only needs three ingredients! I really like the classic yellow cake mix from Whole Foods and try to keep a box or two on hand for peach cobbler.
If you’re using canned peaches, the only mixing you need to do is stirring together the butter and cake mix.
If you want to make this cobbler with fresh peaches, you can slice them and toss them in your baking dish with a quarter cup of honey, two tablespoons of lemon juice, and a half a teaspoon of cinnamon.
The topping mixture should be crumby across the top of the peaches. If there are any dry spots when you transfer the topping to the peaches, you can use your fork to incorporate some of the peach juice into the dry areas.
Peach cobbler really should be served with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream!
You can make your own whipped cream very easily in a Vitamix or similar blender. It’s my favorite method for a quick topping for desserts, breakfasts, or special beverages.

Ingredients
- box yellow cake mix
- 1 stick unsalted butter, 8 tbsp
- 2 jars sliced peaches in light syrup* (14oz each)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350.

- Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until the peaches are bubbly and the topping is lightly browned.
- Remove from the oven and let cool 10 minutes before serving. Serve with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
