The leaves are still flaming shades of oranges and reds, which means that there is still plenty of time to enjoy more Autumn goodies. How about rounding out a play date with a little foodie fun? Invite the kids into the kitchen to enjoy some homemade apple cider!
Two hands are better than one when you are doing almost anything, and two moms are better than one when you are bringing a handful of kids in the kitchen to make something yummy.
A few weeks ago, a dear friend of mine and her four beautiful kiddos were able to come spend the day with us at our house. No special planning was needed. The kids simply played together while my friend and I caught up on each other’s lives.
It was glorious.
After a picnic lunch in the backyard, I invited everyone inside to make apple cider. The kids washed the apples, chopped them into various sized pieces, and tossed them into the Vitamix. Just about ten minutes later, the apple cider was ready to be enjoyed.
My passion in bringing kids into the kitchen and for sharing this series with you is to help inspire and equip you with little tasks in which kids can take part. It doesn’t have to be messy or complicated.
It is just sharing good food with the people you love, and all the while starting kids down a path of understanding where real food comes from and how it can be used to bless others.
You can find easy, step-by-step directions for homemade apple cider over on the Day 2 Day Joys’ blog.
