Description

Easy homemade ice cream made with a mix of crushed strawberries and fresh strawberry chunks. Such a refreshing way to enjoy in-season strawberries!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups chopped fresh strawberries, divided
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Add 1 cup chopped strawberries to a quart mason jar and use a spoon or spatula to muddle them in the bottom of the jar. Once the strawberries are soft and crushed, pour in the remaining ingredients, reserving the second cup of chopped strawberries to add just before mixing.
  2. Shake the jar a little to incorporate the ingredients, then chill in the fridge for at least 3 hours.
  3. Pour the ice cream mixture into your churn, add the remaining strawberries, and follow your ice cream maker’s instructions for churning. (For my cuisinart ice cream maker, I pour in the mix, turn on the machine, and then let it churn for about 20 minutes).
