Stovetop Popcorn

Description

We love making stovetop popcorn at our house! It’s so easy once you learn a few tricks. Here’s a simple method to get perfectly popped popcorn!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 cup popcorn kernels
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the coconut oil over slightly above medium heat until it is shimmering and hot, just before it starts to smoke.
  2. Add the popcorn kernels to the hot oil and spread in an even layer (one kernel deep) on the bottom of the pot. Agitate the pot slightly to coat the kernels with oil. Cover the pot and wait until the kernels start popping. Continue to agitate the pot every 20 to 30 seconds during the process.
  3.  When the popping slows down and you no longer hear regular popping, remove the pot from the heat.
  4. Toss the popcorn with melted butter and season with salt to taste.

Notes

We also like to add Tony’s Creole Seasoning for “spicy popcorn”. Really, though, the variations are endless!
