Roasted carrot fries are one of our FAVORITE veggie sides! They are so easy to make, and we can never seem to have enough because they’re so tasty too. Budget-friendly, kid-friendly, and healthy– you definitely need to try them soon!

Calling something a “fry” instantly makes it more palatable, right? Certainly more kid-friendly.
No matter what you call them, these carrots are delicious. Roasting brings out their sweetness. Seasoning gives them a little kick. And slicing them into thin spears makes them a perfect substitute for french fries.
We can almost never seem to have enough of these fries when I make them. Even though I make eight to ten big carrots, we go through them easily as everyone usually wants seconds, including the toddlers. (Note to self: always make more).
Roasted Carrot Fries
The prep for the carrots is really simple, but having good kitchen tools goes a long way here in making the work easy.
I have been raving about my Titan peeler ever since a good friend of mine gifted me with one (after having used my peeler while at my house and deeming it unusable). And I also always recommend my chef knife because even after using it daily for a decade, it’s still going strong. (Just be sure to sharpen it regularly).
Use your sharp kitchen knife to cut the fries into thin spears. The more evenly sized they are, the more evenly they will cook.
Once all your fries are cut (you can do that part ahead of time if you prefer), just toss them with oil and spices. You can find my blend below, but there are lots of different options. They would also be good with a little cumin and chili powder for some heat.
There isn’t a lot that these carrot fries don’t compliment and pair well with. If you’ve never tried them before, start by subbing them out for French fries the next time you have burgers at home. But really, they’re good with everything, ESPECIALLY if you don’t forget the ranch! (I suggest making my Best Ever Ranch so you dip away without reservation).
Here are some of our favorite meals to eat with these carrots:
- Smoked Pork & IP Creamiest Mac’n’Cheese (pictured above) (watch my husband show how to make an amazing pork butt in a smoker)
- Tastiest Easy Sliders
- Black Bean & Spinach Egg Rolls
- IP 30 Minute Barbecue Chicken

Description
Roasted carrot fries are one of our FAVORITE veggie sides! They are so easy to make, and we can never seem to have enough because they’re so tasty too. Budget-friendly, kid-friendly, and healthy– you definitely need to try them soon!
Ingredients
- 8–10 medium carrots
- olive oil
- 1 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp freshly ground pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp turmeric
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 425°.
2. Peel and trim the carrots. Slice into thin spears. The carrots should be thin like a french fry. If you prefer your carrots to be thicker spears, you will need to increase the cooking time until the carrots are tender.
3. (Optional) Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon mat. Spread the carrot fries out in a single layer. Generously drizzle the carrots with olive oil and toss to make sure all the carrots are coated. Return the carrots to a single layer.
4. Evenly season the carrots with the salt and spices. Toss once more, then once again return to a single layer.
5. Roast in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until carrots have reached desired tenderness. Stir the carrots once halfway through cooking.

These carrots are amazing served with Best Ever Ranch Dressing!

Have you tried these in an air fryer yet? I was thinking of trying it out that way in my IP Duo Crisp, but I’m wondering if that would shorten the time any.
