Life was not meant to be lived alone.
Anyone who has struggled with loneliness knows this to be true. We all need friends, but even in this age of ultra-connectivity, many of us still struggle to find the friendships we need.
Almost five years ago our small family moved to a new home in a new town. Several years in and I still struggle often with loneliness and am learning about friendship. But like so many struggles, there is grace in the pain and the shaping hand of God is clear.
He is a faithful teacher, and when we submit to His instruction, we learn more about ourselves and more about HIm. One thing I have come to realize is that God is still writing my friendship story. Impatient though I may frequently be, I rest in this.
Friendship does not always come as I expect it to or (especially) when I expect it to. Building friendships in each season of life looks different. But no matter what season of life you are in, the richest and most beautiful friendships are those which are kept with open hearts.
